Valencia Plaza has published the opinion article "About the labor reform or counter-reform", signed by the legal director of the Tomarial Labor Area, Santiago Blanes Mompó. The text analyzes what the repeal of the current labor reform would mean, which has been at the epicenter of political controversy in recent days. And he regrets that «As long as in our country things continue to be seen as red or blue, white or black, Nazi or Marxist-Leninist, things will go badly for us. Although I have to say that these dichotomies and polarizations continue to give a lot of profit to some. To continue like this only opens ever greater gaps, generates and increases hatred and makes rapprochement and great consensus impossible.

Without going into political considerations, Santiago Blanes reviews major reforms in labor matters approved in Spain from 1984 to today: «Talking about the labor market, the creation of wealth, must necessarily go through the flexibility of labor relations and the labor market: upon entry, through hiring; during the validity of the employment relationship, for the preservation of the same, and when leaving the labor market, through the termination of the contract ”.

The article calls for entrepreneurs to be allowed to take the initiative, especially small companies, which are the majority of the economic fabric in the country: «Today, with data from April 30, 2020, there are 3.831.200 in our country 3 unemployed people, and this without counting those affected by the ERTE, which at the beginning of April numbered about 374.000 million, under the umbrella of XNUMX files. ERTE that they can be bread for today and hunger for tomorrow; rather the latter, if the policies take the course of frightening the employer and stopping his initiatives.

Santiago Blanes closes his article with a reflection on the need to prioritize effective measures over ideologies, because "good ideas do not understand colors, but above all common sense."
