The director of the Legal-Labor Area of Tomarial, Santiago Blanes, has been interviewed by the magazine Economía 3 in its October issue. In the text, he reviews all the news about teleworking, a practice that has spread due to the pandemic and that introduces new legislation in Spain. Blanes, as an expert in Labor Law with more than 30 years of practice, recommends a good planning of remote work to adapt to the new regulations effectively. And it advises companies how to take advantage of the benefits of teleworking while minimizing its drawbacks, because "the company that does not establish teleworking well is dead."

His recommendation to companies that establish teleworking begins with “the most important thing, do not rush, because it is very important to establish the system correctly in order for it to work. Because now it is fashionable, that does not mean that they should rush. Obviously it can be a very effective instrument, provided it is properly regulated. And this regulation should be the result of deep reflection after the publication of the Royal Decree Law. I would tell companies to keep their eyes wide open to these new times, but to study well the recently approved regulations and how it can finally be regulated in a future Law. They should be advised in depth so as not to make mistakes at the beginning that condition their remote work system for a long time. "

In the interview, Santiago Blanes assesses the advantages and disadvantages of remote work: «Among the advantages for the company, it is very important to save costs and work space, although not everyone agrees with this. But the disadvantages must also be calibrated: greater difficulty in controlling work, as well as in motivating employees. The employer must strive so that his team remains a team, works coordinated and maintains adequate motivation. "
