tomarial is a collaborator of XXIII International Congress and XXVI Ibero-American Congress of Roman Law, to be held at the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló de la Plana from June 8 to 10. For this reason, an exhibition of law books printed in the XNUMXth century has been organized for these days, selected from among the more than seven hundred manuscript and printed works from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth centuries, which constitute the funds of the ancient legal library of the University James I.

The exhibition has had the strong support of the firm Tomarial and the College of Notaries of the Valencian Community, aware of the importance of publicizing the cultural heritage treasured by our universities. On this occasion it is about 33 rare books of Roman Law and Jus Commune, among which stands out an extraordinary and very rare edition of the Corpus juris civilis (Paris, 1566), work in five volumes and masterpiece of Roman Law.

The exhibition also highlights the different works that will be exhibited by the great Bologna treatise writers of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries (Azzo, Accursio, Baldo, Bártolo de Sassoferrato and others). Among the rights of the peninsular kingdoms inheriting this Roman tradition, there are also editions of the furs of Valencia (1547), Ordinations of Portugal (1565) or of the Charters of Aragon (1576). But among the most singular and rare books, the works of Rolandino de Passeggeri (1215-1300) stand out with their own name, who was not the "inventor" or father of the current notary system, but without a doubt his best interpreter, as evidenced by the enormous number of editions of his works made between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, among which the Universitat Jaume I has three excellent copies from the first half of the XNUMXth century, especially one Summa Artis Notariae (Venice 1520), which are one of its great treasures.
